The future of hydroponics as a widely used method for growing plants has been variously described while its application has been confined primarily to growing in controlled environments high-cash value crops. Its application by small growers and home gardeners within a range of environmental conditions has not occurred. One reason is the lack of hydroponic growing methods that are relatively easy to manage as well as being economical in their use of water and plant nutrient reagents. The one hydroponic growing method that could provide such is the sub-irrigation technique that is described on this website. What is needed is someone who can manufacturer the growing units, provide the ingredients and technical support needed for growers and home gardeners in order for them to grow a wide range of food crops, generating food products for themselves and others.
